Universal Technical Institute begins recruiting for new Atlanta and San Antonio campuses planned to open in 2026

Recruitment opens ahead of two new career-training sites
Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has begun recruiting students for two new campuses—one in metro Atlanta and one in San Antonio—as the company expands its footprint in transportation and skilled-trades education. Both locations are scheduled to open in 2026, contingent on regulatory approvals and accreditation processes.
What is planned for the Atlanta-area campus
The Atlanta campus is planned for a 117,000-square-foot facility at 7100 Highlands Parkway SE in Smyrna. UTI has described it as its first campus in Georgia and says it is intended to offer multiple programs supported by classrooms and specialized labs.
Programs identified for the Smyrna campus include training tracks in automotive and diesel technology, aviation, electrical, robotics and automation, HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration), and welding, pending approvals.
San Antonio campus designed as a skilled-trades-only site
In San Antonio, UTI plans a 51,000-square-foot facility at 5776 Stemmons Drive. The company has said this campus is designed to focus exclusively on skilled trades programs, differentiating it from other UTI locations that typically include transportation-focused offerings.
UTI has outlined planned programs in aviation, welding, HVACR and an electrical training suite that includes wind, robotics, industrial maintenance and electrical/electronics, subject to approvals. The company has also previously named Christopher Finn as the campus president for the San Antonio location.
Timeline and approvals still required
UTI has projected different opening windows for the two sites: the San Antonio campus is anticipated to open in spring 2026, while the Atlanta campus is scheduled for summer 2026. In both cases, the company has stated the timelines depend on regulatory approvals.
UTI has also reported that both campuses have applied for accreditation by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, a national accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Accreditation status can affect institutional eligibility for certain forms of student aid and is a key requirement for many career-focused programs.
How the expansion fits into the company’s broader strategy
The two new campuses align with a broader expansion effort that includes program additions at existing locations. In Texas, the company already operates UTI campuses in Austin, Houston and the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and has announced further program growth in the region beginning in early 2026 at its Dallas-area campus.
