Federal complaint details apartment search, drug seizure and separate firearms allegation

Two Mexican nationals are facing federal drug charges after authorities said an investigation into suspected methamphetamine distribution led agents to a metro Atlanta apartment near Piedmont Park, where they reported seizing large quantities of narcotics and a loaded handgun.

Juan Carlos Solano Lorenzo, 30, and Jorge Luis Ramirez Bibiano, 28—both described in court filings as citizens of Mexico—appeared in federal court this week on criminal complaints tied to alleged methamphetamine trafficking. Prosecutors also stated that both men were in the United States without legal status.

What investigators say they found

Investigators said the case began after agents developed information that the two men were allegedly distributing kilogram quantities of methamphetamine in the metro Atlanta area and operating out of an apartment close to Piedmont Park.

On Jan. 21, 2026, agents executed a federal search warrant at the apartment. Authorities said the search resulted in the seizure of:

  • Approximately 44 kilograms of methamphetamine
  • Twenty-two pills marked “M30,” described as suspected fentanyl
  • A loaded firearm reported to have been located next to Ramirez Bibiano’s wallet

The “M30” imprint is commonly associated with counterfeit pills designed to resemble prescription oxycodone. In recent years, law enforcement and public health agencies have repeatedly warned that counterfeit “M30” pills are frequently found to contain fentanyl, a synthetic opioid linked to a high risk of overdose.

Charges filed and initial court status

Solano Lorenzo is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Ramirez Bibiano is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.

Both defendants were ordered held in federal custody pending additional court proceedings, authorities said.

As with all criminal complaints, the allegations represent the government’s assertions at this stage. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

Agencies involved and broader enforcement context

The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration with support from multiple local and state partners, including a multi-agency organized crime task force in Cobb County, the Georgia State Patrol, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Atlanta Police Department.

Federal officials characterized the case as part of broader enforcement efforts focused on disrupting drug trafficking organizations and addressing the spread of fentanyl and other high-potency drugs in the region.

No trial date was announced in the initial filings, and prosecutors have not publicly detailed whether additional suspects are under investigation.
