Georgia Severe Weather Preparedness Week: Tornado Safety Drill
As part of the statewide Severe Weather Preparedness Week running from February 2 through February 6, 2026, today, Wednesday, February 4, is dedicated to Tornado Safety. Residents should be aware that the National Weather Service, in conjunction with local emergency management agencies, will conduct a statewide Tornado Drill. A test warning message is scheduled to be broadcast via NOAA Weather Radio and local emergency sirens at approximately 9:30 a.m. This is only a test. Local officials encourage businesses, schools, and families to use this opportunity to practice their emergency sheltering procedures and identify the safest locations in their buildings.
Fulton County Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
The Fulton County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to hold its first regular meeting of February today, Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The session will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Fulton County Government Center’s Assembly Hall, located at 141 Pryor Street SW. The agenda includes discussions on county infrastructure and public service contracts. Additionally, a public notice has been issued regarding a joint session involving Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) and the City of Atlanta (COA) to review ongoing urban development projects. Residents interested in public commentary should arrive early to sign up at the clerk's desk.
Public Health Advisory: Respiratory Virus Vaccination Season
The Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) has issued an advisory reminding residents that the 2025-2026 respiratory virus season is active. Health centers across the city are currently administering the latest versions of the Pfizer vaccines for both Influenza and COVID-19. Vaccination is recommended for all residents aged six months and older to mitigate the spread of seasonal illness. Health centers are operating on standard schedules following recent weather-related delays earlier in the week. Residents may visit local health centers for walk-in services or to schedule an appointment for immunizations.
Transit and Roadway Delays
The Atlanta Department of Transportation and MARTA have issued the following advisories for Wednesday, February 4:
- Filming Delays: Production for the television project "A Different World" will take place on Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard between Raymond Street and Mildred Street. MARTA Route #813 (Atlanta University Center) will experience intermittent delays from 7:00 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.
- Construction Reroute: Route #36 continues to be rerouted due to ongoing City of Atlanta construction on 10th Street between Juniper Street and Piedmont Avenue. This reroute remains in effect until further notice.
- Infrastructure Alert: Following recent frigid temperatures, DeKalb and Fulton County watershed crews are monitoring several sites for potential water main breaks. Residents in the Decatur and East Atlanta areas are encouraged to report low water pressure to the Department of Watershed Management and take precautions to winterize exposed outdoor pipes.
