Official Public Notice: Saturday Traffic Reroutes and Community Advisories

The City of Atlanta and partnering regional agencies have issued several public notices and service advisories effective for Saturday, February 7, 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these updates to ensure minimal disruption to weekend travel and to stay informed on local health services and infrastructure repairs.

Street Closures and Special Event Reroutes

Several high-traffic areas will experience temporary closures today due to community festivals, parades, and sanctioned filming activities. The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) and MARTA have coordinated the following adjustments:

  • Virginia Highland Mardi Gras Festival: Virginia Avenue will be closed from N. Highland Avenue to Park Drive between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for the annual festival. MARTA bus routes #36 and #816 will be on a temporary reroute during this window.
  • East Lake YMCA Black History Parade: The 6th Annual Black History Parade will take place along Eva Davis Way between Memorial Drive and Campus Drive. Expected closures are in effect from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., impacting MARTA Route #24.
  • Downtown Filming Notice: Production for Tulsa King Season 4 continues on Forsyth Street. The section between Marietta Street and Poplar Street remains closed through early Saturday morning (approximately 2:00 a.m.). Transit reroutes for the #40 Peachtree Street route remain in place until clearance.
  • Midtown Construction: Ongoing resurfacing and safety construction on 10th Street between Juniper Street and Piedmont Avenue continues to affect traffic flow. Drivers are advised to use 14th Street or North Avenue as alternatives.

Infrastructure and Utility Alerts

Infrastructure repairs and utility maintenance are currently impacting service and travel in the following neighborhoods:

  • Brookhaven Water Main Emergency: The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management has issued an emergency notice for Dresden Drive. The roadway is currently closed between Winding Lane NE and S. Bamby Lane for the repair of an 8-inch water main. Residents in the vicinity may experience temporary water service interruptions or low pressure while repairs are finalized.
  • DeKalb County Gas Line Repairs: Maintenance on gas lines continues along Flat Shoals Road between Candler Road and Corsair Drive. While primary work is scheduled for weekdays, equipment and temporary steel plates may still impact lane availability.

Public Health Advisory

The Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) reminds residents that we remain in the peak of the 2025-2026 respiratory virus season. Official health centers are currently administering the latest versions of the COVID-19 and Influenza vaccines. Clinics are located at various regional centers, and residents are encouraged to stay up to date on vaccinations to mitigate the spread of seasonal illness.

Upcoming City Council and Committee Meetings

While the Atlanta City Council does not hold sessions on Saturdays, the following public notices for the upcoming week have been officially posted:

  • Monday, February 9: The Housing Commission will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Atlanta City Hall.
  • Wednesday, February 11: The Transportation Committee and Human Relations Commission are both scheduled for sessions starting at 10:00 a.m.
