Today, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Atlanta City Council continues its current legislative cycle with two primary committee sessions. The Transportation Committee is scheduled to convene at 10:00 a.m. to review upcoming infrastructure developments, transit improvements, and public works projects. Simultaneously, the Finance/Executive Committee will meet to discuss the city’s fiscal year 2026 budget priorities and departmental funding requests. Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Flu Warning

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) has issued an urgent advisory following a surge in widespread and severe flu activity across the metropolitan area. Health officials report that hospitalizations have increased significantly over the last several weeks. Residents who have not yet received their annual flu vaccination are strongly encouraged to visit a local health clinic or pharmacy. To mitigate the spread of the virus, the city advises all citizens to practice frequent handwashing, use proper respiratory etiquette, and remain home if they experience symptoms such as fever, cough, or muscle aches.

Environmental and Community Planning Notices

• Whetstone Creek Restoration: A public notice is currently active regarding a buffer variance application for the Whetstone Creek Restoration project. The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is holding its monthly board meeting today at 10:30 a.m. at its Atlanta headquarters on Executive Park South. The meeting will address state-level community development grants and affordable housing programs that directly impact the city’s residential planning.
