Atlanta City Council Regular Session and Committee Meetings

The Atlanta City Council will convene for its regularly scheduled full session on Monday, March 2, 2026. The meeting is set to begin at 1:00 PM at Atlanta City Hall, located at 55 Trinity Ave. SW. Prior to the full council session, several committee meetings are scheduled to take place throughout the morning. The Committee Chairs will meet at 11:00 AM, followed by the Committee on Council at 11:30 AM. Residents interested in the legislative process can view the proceedings live on Channel 26 or via the city’s official public meeting portal.

Significant legislative items are expected on the afternoon agenda, following several recent initiatives regarding affordable housing and civil rights commemorations. Public comment will be accepted in person at the start of the session, providing an opportunity for citizens to address the council directly on pending municipal matters.

Water and Sewer Appeals Board Hearing

The Department of Watershed Management has announced a formal hearing of the Water and Sewer Appeals Board on Monday, March 2, 2026. The board will meet at 4:00 PM to review contested billing adjustments and service grievances. This board is responsible for hearing appeals from customers regarding administrative decisions made by the Department of Watershed Management. Under the current Atlanta City Code, customers may seek relief for billing errors, leaks, or penalties if specific criteria are met and the appeal is filed within the required timeframe.

Public Works Traffic Advisory: Ormond Street SE

The Department of Watershed Management continues its infrastructure improvement efforts with an active project on Ormond Street SE. A traffic advisory remains in effect for the stretch between Hank Aaron Drive SW and Fraser Street SE. This work is part of a larger water main improvement project and is currently scheduled to continue through Friday, March 6, 2026, depending on weather conditions. Commuters should expect temporary lane closures and are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid delays in the area. Local access for residents will be maintained throughout the construction period.

Metro Update: Proposed Speed Limit Reductions

While primarily impacting northern metro commuters, the City of Milton is holding a meeting on March 2 to consider a resolution that would lower speed limits on three major roads and several school zones. These proposals are part of a Local Road Safety Plan designed to reduce traffic-related injuries. If passed, the limits on Bethany Bend between Hopewell Road and State Route 9 would drop from 45 mph to 40 mph, with similar reductions planned for New Providence Road and Thompson Road.

Public Health and Weather Outlook

The forecast for Monday, March 2, remains mostly cloudy with a high near 70°F and a low around 50°F. The chance of rain is minimal at approximately 10%. Health officials remind residents that early March often signals the beginning of the spring pollen season in the metro area. Individuals with respiratory sensitivities or asthma are encouraged to monitor daily air quality and pollen counts as tree pollen levels begin their seasonal rise.
