The City of Atlanta, in partnership with Showcase Atlanta, is hosting the second day of the two-day Atlanta Workforce Expo on Friday, March 6, 2026. The event takes place at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building B, Murphy Ballroom, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mayor Andre Dickens and city leaders will be on-site to facilitate connections between employers and job seekers. State Representative Park Cannon and the Spelman Health Advocacy Initiative are hosting a public press conference on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will be held at the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol. MARTA Transit Advisory: Bus Reroutes for Friday
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has issued a reroute advisory for Friday, March 6, 2026, due to permitted filming activities in the Campbellton Road area. The following adjustments are in effect:
- Routes #83 (Campbellton Road) and #162 (Myrtle Drive / Alison Court): These routes will be diverted between 4:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. due to closures on Campbellton Road between Ridgewood Lane and Hadlock Street.
- East Lake Station: While the south entrance is scheduled for full closure on March 9, riders are advised that preparatory construction work is currently active. Shuttle services remain available for ADA access between the north and south lots.
Sanitation and Infrastructure Updates
The Department of Public Works reminds residents that yard trimmings collection is following the regular weekly schedule for the month of March. Additionally, under the new 2026 guidelines, bulk trash collections must be scheduled on your regular service day. Residents are encouraged to use the ATL311 system to book these services at least one business day in advance.
The Atlanta City Council recently approved a significant $8 million transfer to oversee critical water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. Residents may see increased survey activity near the Hemphill Pump Station as rehabilitation work begins this week.

Friday, March 6, 2026, marks the official filing deadline for candidates seeking election to the Georgia Public Service Commission. Prospective candidates must complete all registration and filing requirements by the close of the business day to appear on the 2026 primary ballot.
