Lane Closures on GA-400 and Peachtree Street Filming to Delay Wednesday Commute

GA-400 Express Lane Project Causes Early Delays
Commuters in North Fulton and Forsyth counties should prepare for significant changes to their daily routes as the $4.6 billion Georgia 400 Express Lanes project enters its first full week of heavy construction. Following the official start of work earlier this week, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has implemented rolling lane and shoulder closures that are expected to impact travel times through the north metro area. Drivers should expect a 15-minute increase in travel times during peak hours as crews begin the multi-year process of adding two express lanes in each direction.
- Webb Bridge Road: Nightly single lane closures will continue through 5:00 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday between GA-400 and Westside Parkway.
- Roberts Drive: Expect nightly single lane closures at the GA-400 interchange through the end of the week.
- Northridge Road: Daily rolling closures are active on the northbound exit and entrance ramps from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
I-285 Westside Reconstruction Underway
On the west side of the city, the reconstruction of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road and South Fulton Parkway is now in full swing. This $366 million infrastructure project aims to rehabilitate 15 miles of the aging perimeter wall and substructure. While GDOT is scheduling most major lane closures for overnight hours and weekends, drivers should remain alert for shifting traffic patterns and narrowed lanes during the Wednesday morning and evening rush hours. Heavy freight traffic is particularly concentrated in the third and fourth lanes to avoid ongoing pothole repairs near the Cobb-Fulton line.
Downtown Filming and Event Alerts
Traffic in the heart of Atlanta will be tighter than usual today due to several film productions and local events. Peachtree Street is subject to heavy delays between 6th Street and 8th Street from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the filming of a major production. Additionally, filming on Forsyth Street between Marietta Street and Walton Street will cause disruptions throughout the day. Commuters are advised to use West Peachtree Street or Spring Street as alternates to avoid the midtown and downtown bottlenecks.
South of downtown, the 2026 Spring Atlanta Fair is now open near the Center Parc Stadium grounds. Expect increased pedestrian traffic and intermittent delays on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard and Central Avenue starting at 5:00 p.m. this evening.
MARTA Service Adjustments
MARTA passengers should note that the South Entrance of the East Lake Station is now closed for ongoing renovation and elevator upgrades. Commuters must use the North entrance for all station access. On the rail lines, single tracking remains in effect early this morning between West End and Garnett Stations on the North/South Line; please allow for 10-15 minute delays. For bus commuters, Route #40 will experience significant reroutes due to the downtown filming schedules, and Route #2 continues to see periodic cancellations due to maintenance adjustments.
