Official Notice: Major Weekend Lane Closures

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced several high-impact maintenance projects affecting metro Atlanta traffic on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Motorists are advised to plan for delays or seek alternate routes due to the following scheduled work:

  • I-75/85 (The Connector): Rolling closures will occur in both directions from University Avenue to 17th Street for thermoplastic installation. These nightly operations are scheduled to continue through Monday morning.
  • SR 13 Northbound: Milling and paving operations from Peachtree Street to Monroe Drive will result in single-lane closures. Crews will transition from the left to the right lane starting at 10:00 a.m., with work expected to conclude by 8:00 p.m.
  • I-285 Southbound: Emergency bridge repair and deck replacement over Mount Gilead Road will require a double right-lane closure from the Campbellton Road exit to the Atlanta city limits.
  • 10th Street NE: A total 24-hour road closure remains in effect between Piedmont Avenue NE and Peachtree Street NE. This closure is part of an ongoing sewer mainline rehabilitation project and is expected to persist through late February.

Public Health Advisory: Respiratory Illness and Measles Alerts

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) continues to monitor significant health trends affecting the Atlanta region. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions as the following advisories remain active:

  • Flu Activity: Health officials report that influenza activity in Georgia remains at a "high" level. Citizens are encouraged to practice frequent handwashing and stay home if they exhibit symptoms of respiratory illness.
  • Measles Alert: Following a confirmed case of measles reported in the region in late January, the DPH reminds residents to ensure their vaccinations are up to date. Healthcare providers have been issued a formal alert to remain vigilant for symptoms including high fever and distinctive rashes.

City Ordinance: Building Accessibility Requirements

As of this week, the City of Atlanta has implemented a new ordinance requiring most new and renovated commercial buildings to install visible push-button door activators at primary sidewalk-facing entrances. Adopted unanimously by the City Council, this measure is designed to improve independence and safety for residents with disabilities. Single-family and two-family homes are exempt from these new zoning requirements, which take effect immediately for all eligible construction projects.

Legislative Notice: Atlanta Delegation Luncheon

The Atlanta City Council reminds stakeholders that the Atlanta Delegation Legislative Luncheon is scheduled for today, Saturday, February 21, 2026. This session serves as a coordination meeting between local and state representatives to discuss ongoing legislative priorities for the city during the current General Assembly session.
