Atlanta police seek suspect in unprovoked assault outside World of Coca-Cola during November 2024 daytime incident

Atlanta police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man accused of assaulting a woman on Baker Street near Centennial Olympic Park and the World of Coca-Cola, an incident investigators have described as an apparently unprovoked attack.
The assault occurred during daytime hours on Nov. 21, 2024, in the busy Downtown Atlanta corridor that connects major tourist attractions, hotels, and pedestrian traffic. Police have said the woman was in Atlanta on a school field trip when she was approached by an unknown man on the sidewalk.
What investigators say happened
Authorities say surveillance footage shows the victim and the suspect walking in opposite directions before the suspect suddenly strikes her. Accounts released by police describe the woman falling to the ground immediately after the blow, hitting her head and losing consciousness. Police have characterized the injuries as significant.
Investigators have also released additional surveillance video that appears to show the suspect walking nearby shortly after the incident and discarding an outer layer of clothing on the sidewalk.
Police have framed the assault as a random act of violence and have not disclosed a motive.
Suspect description released to the public
Police describe the suspect as a Black man believed to be in his mid-20s to mid-30s, approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, clean-shaven, with short, spiked hair.

What remains unclear
