Atlanta police seek public help locating Kwame Shabazz, wanted in two reported sexual assault cases

Suspect sought after reports on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23; investigators cite multiple felony warrants
Atlanta police on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, asked the public to help locate a man wanted in connection with two separate incidents investigators describe as a sexual assault and a public indecency case, as well as related alleged crimes including burglary and aggravated assault.
Police identified the suspect as Kwame Shabazz. Investigators said he is wanted in connection with an incident reported on Jan. 22, 2026, on Cosmopolitan Drive NE. Authorities said they believe the suspect forced his way into a victim’s apartment and sexually assaulted her.
Investigators also said they believe Shabazz is connected to a public indecency incident reported the next day, Jan. 23, 2026. Police did not release additional details about that allegation in the information made public Thursday.
Charges and jurisdictions involved
Authorities said Shabazz is wanted on multiple charges in Atlanta, including rape, sexual battery, aggravated sexual battery, false imprisonment, hindering a person from making an emergency call, burglary and aggravated assault.
Police officials also said Shabazz has rape warrants out of College Park. The public request for assistance reflects a multi-jurisdictional effort that can be common when investigators believe the same suspect is linked to incidents in more than one city.
Atlanta charges listed by police include rape and several related felonies.
Police said additional rape warrants have been issued out of College Park.
Investigators have asked tipsters to share information about Shabazz’s whereabouts rather than attempting to contact him directly.
How tips are handled and what police are asking for
Police directed anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477). Authorities said a reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
Police urged anyone with information about the suspect’s location to report it through Crime Stoppers.
Investigators did not disclose the identities of the victims, consistent with common law-enforcement practice in sexual assault cases. Police also did not provide details Thursday on whether the two incidents are believed to involve the same victim or different victims.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police said additional information may be released as detectives continue to build the case and seek to locate the suspect.
