Police open missing-person investigation after work vehicle is found without the driver

Atlanta police are searching for a 43-year-old man after his employer reported that the man did not return and his work truck was located abandoned in southwest Atlanta, authorities said Tuesday.

The missing man was identified as Michael Bruce Clinkscales. Police said he was reported missing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, after officers responded to a call in the 3600 block of Boulder Park Drive. Investigators said the employer discovered the work truck after Clinkscales’ shift ended, but could not reach him by phone.

Authorities said the truck was found near the area of Boulder Park Drive and Fairburn Road SW. As of Tuesday afternoon, police had not released information about where Clinkscales was last seen, whether any personal items were found with the truck, or whether there were signs of a crash or a struggle.

Who is missing and what is known so far

  • Name: Michael Bruce Clinkscales
  • Age: 43
  • Residence: Lithonia; police listed a last known address on Sherwood Trace in Lithonia
  • Description: approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 200 pounds
  • Last known clothing: not released

The case is being handled by the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide/Adult Missing Persons Unit, a division that typically coordinates investigations involving adults whose whereabouts are unknown and where circumstances may be unclear. Police have not said whether the case is being treated as suspicious, and no foul play has been alleged in public statements.

What investigators are likely trying to establish

In the early stages of a missing-person investigation involving an abandoned vehicle, detectives generally work to reconstruct the last confirmed timeline of movements. That includes verifying where the person was during the final hours of work, determining the last known point of contact, and identifying potential witnesses who may have seen the vehicle or the driver near where it was found.

Police have not disclosed whether surveillance video exists in the area, whether the truck’s location suggests a planned stop or an interruption, or whether location data from a phone or vehicle systems is available. Investigators also have not released information about the type of work Clinkscales performed, which can be relevant when determining whether job duties placed someone in multiple locations over a shift.

Anyone who knows where Clinkscales is or who sees him is asked to call 911 or contact Atlanta police at 404-546-4235.

Police said the investigation remained active Tuesday and asked the public to share any information that could help locate him.
