Arrest follows traffic stop hours after reported robbery in southwest Atlanta

Atlanta police have charged a 29-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery reported in southwest Atlanta after officers later stopped a vehicle believed to have been used as the getaway car and discovered two children inside.

The robbery was reported on January 28, 2026, shortly before 4:30 p.m., near 3030 Headland Drive SW. Investigators said a victim was confronted and robbed at gunpoint by two men. Police said the suspects fled the area in a Honda CR-V.

Several hours later, at about 8:30 p.m., officers located the Honda CR-V and conducted a traffic stop. Police said one suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

Children located in the vehicle; police said both were in good health

During the stop, officers found two children inside the SUV. Police said both children were found in good health. Body-camera video from the stop shows officers speaking with the children as they assessed their condition and safety.

Police have not publicly identified the children. Authorities have not released additional details about how the children came to be in the vehicle, including whether they were related to the suspect or the circumstances that led to their presence during the aftermath of the reported robbery.

Charges filed; second suspect remains at large

Police identified the arrested suspect as Quintavious Knowles, 29. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, armed robbery, pointing or aiming a gun at another person, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Investigators said a second suspect was involved and remains on the run. No description or identity for that person was released in the initial updates, and the investigation remains active.
